Christmas Magic Tradition

A Christmas Tradition
There are so many wonderful parts of this time of year! I have come to love the season changes throughout the years. The new life in spring, joy of summer, sweet family time of fall, and the rest of winter. There really is a reason of the season!
Over the past few years, realizing our kids were growing before our eyes, we’ve really pushed for Christmas traditions. At the end of November we sit down, gather the kids and schedule the nights we plan to do our Christmas activities.
Some of these include:
Christmas Cookie Decorating
Gingerbread House Competition
Christmas Night of Lights
Christmas Coloring Night
Christmas Movies (that are musts!)
Shopping Nights
Visiting Candy Kitchen, to see candy canes be made
Paint Ornaments
Deliver Christmas Cookies
Christmas Lego (our 2022 new transition!)
As each year goes by, I’m amazed at what the kids remember, and what seems to mean the most. I definitely can get wrapped up in trying to make it “the best” when I realized our tradition of blaring Christmas music while decorating the tree is what my kids tell others about.
I’m amazed. Always.
I saw this photo on Pinterest, and while it is a different language, I felt the spirit through the photo.
Simple, but purposeful.
As an American, the hustle and hustle of the holiday season is almost of must.
But when we can sit, watch, and listen and we can really see the magic of the year.
I was going to try and put these kits together on my website this weekend, but sometimes we don’t have to always have it together. We don’t have to the prettiest house, the best wrapping paper, the perfect matching Christmas jammies, the perfect you fill in the blank. (You also don’t have to worry that there is a drill in your photo’s with your kids gingerbread houses…yes, there is. Go look!)
I’m so impressed in my heart to pause, and let God be God. A candle a day for the month of December, to sit and reflect. Reflect on your year, your memories, yours wins, and your losses. Sit and dream. Sit in the magic. Sit and be.
Sit in thankfulness.
